Hi,

I've seen this before, so I thought I should record it.

In the UK, some Freeview (DVB) channels only broadcast part time. For example, BBC3 starts at 7pm.

If you set MP to record the first programme on BBC3, at 7pm, then it will try to start the recording 5 minutes before. As there is nothing being broadcast at that time, all I get is a 6kB file, duration zero seconds.

This is with RC4 and an SVN update from around the middle of last week (not at that computer right now, so can't be more specific.

As I noted, I have seen this happen before, and it's totally reproducible.

Please can others verify this behaviour? If a recording fails due to lack of signal, is it possible to keep checking every minute, until the actual time of the programme, for this eventuality?

I note that the bit red blob to show recording does show on the main TV page during the expected recording time.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Here is the relevant section of the log. Tried to record a programme on BBC3 at 19:00 (so should have started at 18:55). In the end, I got 7 seconds of the recording. I can't see anything obvious in here, but you're welcome to it.

Bump.

Still having the problem. Before I post any more log files, are there any users in the UK who can set a timer recording for the first programme of the evening on BBC3 and let us know if it works? Probably the easiest way to find out if this is a real bug.

Cheers,

Mark
