bug confrimed Recording dissapeared ???

Area: Media Portal Program
Windows Version: Windows XP SP2
CPU Type: AMD XP2500+
Memory: 512 MB DDR333
Motherboard Chipset: Shuttle SN41G2v3
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB
Video Card Driver: Catalyst 5.8
Video Render Type: VMR9
Video Codec Type & Version: Mpeg2Dec
Audio Codec Type & Version: MPEG/AC·/DTS/LPCM Audio Decoder
TV Card: Hauppauge PVR350
TV Card Type: hardware
TV Card Driver: pvr250_22_23070.exe
Satelite/CableTV Provider: N.A.

Last night I manually scheduled a recording from 1:15 am to 3:15 am. This morning when I checked if it went all right the recording wasn't there, not watching the recordings inside My TV. I went to the folder where recordings are stored and no luck either. Then I looked at the scheduler and this schedule was marked as completed.

So I went to the log folder and checked every log in there, and there was absolutely nothing logged during that period of time. From 11:30 pm (aprox.) when I turned off the PC (in fact I left that Power Scheduler hibernated the PC after 30 minutes of inactivity) to 7:50 am when I turned it on, there is nothing at all. I have recorded a couple more things from EPG to check if it's working well, and it has worked. So I will check if it's something about manual recordings or what.

Hopefully not all is lost, I can still download the show that was supposed to be recorded .

I have verified that the computer did not wake up for the recording. I don't know why. I have scheduled other recordings after that and the computer has wake up and recorded them well. I will try with a manual recording.

What doesn't make sense is that it was flagged as "completed" instead of "failed" or something else.

I think that I already know what happened. It seems that when the computer is hibernated, if you unplug it, later it will not turn on by itself, you have to press the power button. I remember that I unpluged it, so that was the problem. My fault .

Hi,
Many motherboards have an option for Power failure, where you can set it to “last state” (in Bios). This will enable the computer to resume if you have a power failure or take out the cable.

Yes that's what I wanted to try. However the computer was not powered when I unplugged it, it was hibernated; I thought it would make no difference if I unplug it (or there's a power faliure) for the computer to resume later. But it does make a difference if you have scheduled the computer to wake up.

I have not tested hibernate with my computer and power failure, have to try that. If not just set it to “always” power on, it will go to hibernate by it self when not in use.

That seems to be the only way to be sure that after a power faliure, the computer still will be able to turn on itself and keep on with the recordings. But I will test that it does work as expected.
