Hi! I have recently upgraded to Vista, and everything works fine, apart from Video streams. All plugins (Music Videos, Trailers, ...) don't work. The GUI says the file cannot be played. I have a standard install, all Windows Updates installed and a completely clean system. I would be very grateful if somebody could help. Can anyone successfully play streams in Vista? Thanks! Here is the excerpt from the log: Code: 2007-05-18 00:38:38.846916 [Info.][MPMain]: vmr9:ctor() 2007-05-18 00:38:38.847892 [Info.][MPMain]: vmr9:ctor() done:True 2007-05-18 00:38:38.847892 [Info.][MPMain]: VideoPlayerVMR9: Enabling DX9 exclusive mode 2007-05-18 00:38:38.848869 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: DX exclusive mode: True 2007-05-18 00:38:38.848869 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: Goto fullscreen: True 2007-05-18 00:38:38.848869 [Info.][MPMain]: fonts.SetDevice() 2007-05-18 00:38:38.849845 [Info.][MPMain]: Message = GUI_MSG_SWITCH_FULL_WINDOWED 2007-05-18 00:38:38.853751 [Info.][MPMain]: vmr9:addvmr9 2007-05-18 00:38:38.899647 [Info.][MPMain]: VMR9Helper: enabled YUV mixing - No DX Error 2007-05-18 00:38:38.899647 [Info.][MPMain]: VMR9: now active 2007-05-18 00:38:38.900623 [Info.][MPMain]: VMR9Helper:Vmr9 Added 2007-05-18 00:38:38.900623 [Info.][MPMain]: add filter:Default DirectSound Device to graph clock:False 2007-05-18 00:38:38.901600 [Info.][MPMain]: DirectShowUtils: found renderer - Default DirectSound Device 2007-05-18 00:38:38.908435 [Info.][MPMain]: DirectShowUtils: Passed removing audio renderer 2007-05-18 00:38:38.908435 [Info.][MPMain]: DirectShowUtils: Passed finding Audio Renderer 2007-05-18 00:38:38.910388 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:Default DirectSound Device to graph 2007-05-18 00:38:38.911365 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: pin:0 not connected:80040209 2007-05-18 00:38:38.911365 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: no input pin 1 found 2007-05-18 00:38:38.912341 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: no input pin 2 found 2007-05-18 00:38:38.912341 [Info.][MPMain]: VideoPlayer9:cleanup DShow graph 2007-05-18 00:38:38.913318 [Info.][MPMain]: vmr9:Dispose 2007-05-18 00:38:38.913318 [Info.][MPMain]: VMR9: not active 2007-05-18 00:38:38.914294 [Info.][MPMain]: planescene: PresentImage() 2007-05-18 00:38:38.915271 [Info.][MPMain]: PlaneScene: PresentImage() dispose surfaces 2007-05-18 00:38:38.917224 [Info.][MPMain]: VMR9:ReleaseComObject():0 2007-05-18 00:38:38.918200 [Info.][MPMain]: planescene: PresentImage() 2007-05-18 00:38:38.919177 [Info.][MPMain]: PlaneScene: PresentImage() dispose surfaces 2007-05-18 00:38:38.930895 [Info.][MPMain]: VideoPlayerVMR9: Disabling DX9 exclusive mode 2007-05-18 00:38:38.930895 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: DX exclusive mode: False 2007-05-18 00:38:38.931871 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: Goto windowed mode: True 2007-05-18 00:38:38.931871 [Info.][MPMain]: fonts.SetDevice() 2007-05-18 00:38:38.932848 [Info.][MPMain]: Message = GUI_MSG_SWITCH_FULL_WINDOWED 2007-05-18 00:38:38.932848 [Info.][MPMain]: player2:ended 2007-05-18 00:38:38.960190 [Info.][MPMain]: GUIMusicVideo: Unable to play mms://209.73.189.144/p09r21/164/__S__/LAUvpwm9/14/33703243.wmv?StreamID=33703243&pl_auth=c941d1d71ddcd8658e247693506e0232&ht=3630&xdata=einsJELEt4VkQCKMov00bg-46931094-1886812234&b=3e5u3891dirro&s=791020104&txe=.wmv 2007-05-18 00:38:38.961166 [Info.][MPMain]: WindowManager:route MediaPortal.GUI.MusicVideos.GUIMusicVideos:4734->MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogNotify:2016 2007-05-18 00:38:38.962143 [Info.][MPMain]: window:MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogNotify init 2007-05-18 00:38:39.915207 [Info.][MPMain]: window:MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogNotify deinit 2007-05-18 00:38:39.916183 [Info.][MPMain]: texturemanager:CleanupThumbs() 2007-05-18 00:38:39.917160 [Info.][MPMain]: WindowManager:unroute to MediaPortal.Dialogs.GUIDialogNotify:2016->MediaPortal.GUI.MusicVideos.GUIMusicVideos:4734 2007-05-18 00:38:39.918136 [Info.][MPMain]: No translation found for id 104734 2007-05-18 00:38:41.125090 [Info.][MPMain]: TexturePacker: disposing texture:199 2007-05-18 00:38:41.128996 [Info.][MPMain]: TexturePacker: disposing texture:198 2007-05-18 00:38:41.131926 [Info.][MPMain]: TexturePacker: disposing texture:195 2007-05-18 00:38:41.182704 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: Exiting 2007-05-18 00:38:41.184657 [Info.][MPMain]: Recorder: stop

Hi, thanks for your reply. Since WMP and VLC play streams fine in Vista it seems to be an incompatibility issue with MP. And certainly there will be more and more people switching to Vista, as most PCs come with Vista nowadays. If nobody knows how to solve this, then I guess I'll have to debug the issue when I have a bit of time.

Hi, this is weird, I tried disabling VMR9 yesterday, and it didn't work, however today after trying again it works! But shouldn't it be possible to use VMR9 as well? Without it there are no overlays which are very helpful. My firewall is disabled at the moment. Thanks! vladyman

Roy, Hm. Firstly the bug is marked as resolved, secondly my behaviour is not quite the same. I never get a crash. Secondly the following log entries show up in my log: Code: 2007-05-18 00:38:38.911365 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: pin:0 not connected:80040209 2007-05-18 00:38:38.911365 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: no input pin 1 found 2007-05-18 00:38:38.912341 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: no input pin 2 found Thanks for your help!

Ok, but there is still this exception, which I don't seem to get. It really doesn't look as the same issue to me. It's definitely an issue with VMR9, but this errorcode 80040209 seems to be suggesting there is something wrong with the filters, which leads me to suspect that there is some sort of problem in the legacy DirectX9 support. Is there a way to change any other settings connected to streams, like which filters are used and so on?

| Portal Tester | I have had the same erorr in w2k on one test machine, the way I had to resolve it was to reinstal WMP. It was as thought the settings for certain WMP codecs had gone wrong. They were present when I checked with graphedit but MP couldn't connect the pins. This should help for XP aswell (can't say about VISTA though) |
