Pause a random Xvid a number of times and the screen stays paused

Pause a random Xvid a number of times and the screen stays paused while file continues to play. Only stopping and restarting or hitting the green button to minimize and maximize the file will help

1 play xvid
2 pause file 10-20 times hitting pause key on MCE remote
3 continue pressing either pause again or hitting big play button
4 file continues to play but screen stays paused.

it happens with various xvids like

but any xvid will do

I tested ti a bit more and skipping forwards and backward quickly after each other results in the same effect.

Any idea about what could be the problem
