and the same transponder in "13.0°E Hotbird.ini"
28=11258,H,27500,23,S2 - no signal error

The Transponder on the Freq.11258 simply is no dvb-s2 Transponder then.

Its a plain dvb-s transponder, thats why the scan works with "11258,H,27500,8psk,2/3" and it fails when you try to tread it like an dvb-s2 Transponder with "11258,H,27500,23,S2", because it isnt a dvb-s2 transponder.

keep in mind that h.264 encoded Channels are broadcasted on dvbs and s2 transponders.
dvb-s2 is not "required" for HD broadcasts, its just "prefered".

Unfortunatly it's a S2. you can verify from http://it.kingofsat.net/tv-13E.php:

Hotbird 7A (13.0E) - 11258.00 H - Txp: 3 - Beam: Europe DVB-S2 (8PSK) - 27500 2/3 - NID:318 - TID:1400

seems like thats a error on the kingofsat weppage, because i have never seen a dvb-s2 transponder which contains normal SD channels.

also, if you can scan a transponder with dvb-s settings and find channels, then it can not be a dvb-s2 transponder.

@314TeR
please check if you have "HBO HD Polska" in your channel list.

------------ EDIT -----------
actually you were right, it indeed is a dvb-s2 channel as you can read on page 8 ::here:: of the official eutelsat TV Channels listing.....

so the tuning details for dvbs2 must be wrong.....
no clue why it scans on the dvb-s settings.

Seems like some TV cards need also "8PSK" to be specified in order to successfully scan a S2 transponder.

This seems also to make TV-Server understand that it should go with a -S2 type scan instead of a normal -S one.

Does this make somehow sense ?

It's some weeks that we changed the S2 scanning behaviour to fix this issue and some others

If you tick the "S2 param scan option" ( sorry no TV-Server in front to check the exact string ) then all tps ending with ",S2" in the main satellite file are skipped. A second ini file with "-S2" in filename is used to get those as some infos are missing from the original kingofsat files:

So loking at "13°E Hotbird.ini" -> if tp line end with ",S2" -> skipped.
If exist "13°E Hotbird-S2.ini" -> this tp info are used instead.

Issue solved

it works!

here's an updated file for 28.2, it seems kingofsat has a small error for frequency 11856.00 V on 28.2, it should be qpsk instead of 8psk

so for people having problems......

are there any plans to let kingofsat provide the needed files?

The parameters pilot and roll of, are they neccesary, because some files don't have them, what do they do? How can I find out those values?

EDIT: seems that they aren't necessary, scanned without them and it worked
