not a bug TV Freezes sometimes after a few seconds

Hi

i have a problem with my current media portal installation.
After changing to another TV channel the screen freezes and the sound of the TV stops, but only sometimes. Sometimes everthing works fine (in 5 from 10 cases). The i have to press ESC on my keyboard an the turn of the TV and turn on TV button. After this everthing starts from beginning.

If I can give you furhter information, please tell me.

TV-Server Version: 1.0.0.0 RC 1 Refesh
MediaPortal Version: 1.0.0.0 RC 1 Refesh
MediaPortal Skin: Blue Two
Windows Version: Windows XP Professional
CPU Type: AMD Athlon
HDD: 200 GB
Memory: 512 GB

No problem. Please tell me if i have made any further mistakes.

1. Start MediaPortal
2. Go to "My TV"
3. TV is automatically turned on
4. I can watch TV with audio for round about 2 seconds.
5. then Picture and Sound freezes
6. Click on TV on (to disable TV)
7. Click on TV on (to enable TV again)
8. TV works well.
The same problem occours sometimes when changing between channels.

Done with the German TV station Das Erste

I did a complete new installation of Windows XP Professional before I installed MP 1.0.0.0 RC 1. Does anyone know where the problem is?

Hi,
Do you use TV Server(can see that you have TVPlugin installed), but something tries to start your card from MediaPortal using old engine:
Quote:
2008-04-25 19:00:20.046875 [Info.][MPMain]: Recorder: card:1 video device:B2C2 MPEG-2 Source TV:True record:True priority:10
Which means it will fail.
Can you uninstall TVServer/TV Plugin(you don't need to delete anything so say no when that question pops up) Then, open MediaPortal Configuration -> Television -> Capture Cards & delete the card which is in there, then remove the channels in the channel list & click OK to save & close MediaPortal Configuration.
Then Install TV Server & TVPlugin again & test.

Regards
Roy

Thanks for your fast reply!

Yes, I use TV Server. I did everything you mentiond in the last posting. Now the behaviour is a little bit different.
1. Start Mediaportal
2. Go to My TV
3. --> Now the TV starts and works always (which is different now)

But

4. Switch to another channel (by pressing "2" on keyboard)
5. TV screen freezes sometimes (would guess in 8 of 10 cases)
6. Turn of TV
7. Turn on TV
8. TV works well until I switch to another channel

Regards
Michael

Hi,
Not sure what it can be, but for some reason i've had problems here too with audio causing freeze(it doesn't have to be your problem).
After i changed Audio codecs to ffdshow (i use the ffdshow tryouts "Nightly builds by clsid" latest) & in Audio Decoder Config part for ffdshow i have enabled mp3lib for MP1, MP2.
Other then that i dunno since i don't have the same channels as you.

Btw, in MediaPortal Configuration -> General -> Log level & change it to debug(will give us more information)

Regards
Roy

I think I have fixed the problem. The TV freezes were caused by a program which ran in the backgroud and was installed by the Skystar 2 installation Setup. The Programm is called Server4PC. I think the program accesses to the TV Card, also. After removing this program from Autostart Menu everythink works fine.
Thanks for you help.

i have seen this too once.
but afaik this was a bug of a very old WDM driver version from the skystar2, where it "locked" on some transponder for sat-i-net.
