When watching film from a quality broadcast operator, the film mode should go on. I will check with proper DVD source to double check this though. It might have someting to do with the broadcasted film. Maybe they have screwed it up somehow so that Purevideo cannot decode it as film anymore? I'll be back.
I checked with proper film material from another source than DVB-T, and Nvidia correctly chose film mode. So my previous conclusion that PureVideo was at fault seems not to be correct. But why did film mode not get chosen for the DVB-T film material? That may still be a bug.
