Default

im using these :

SPDIFFER (for optical audio passthru of everything up to and including DTS /drool - not a cpu hungry codec)
FFDshow tryouts (for xvid/divx/quicktime video)
CoreAVC 1.6 (for x264 videos - my pc cant play any x264s smoothly unless i use THIS codec due to low CPU spec)
Matroskasplitter (to crack open those yummy MKV's)
MPV (for all mpeg2 content)

i will change things around and try cyberlink when i get my new pc tomorrow =)

******************

got my NEW PC huzzah!

i changed the h264 codec ..i can use ffdshow(after enabling h264) which works for EVERYTHING
...or i can use cyberlink powerdvd 7.x video codec for *almost everything* with HW acceleration switched off without any problems(still a few files that appear blocky or interlaced)...if i switch hw acceleration is ON i can play all bluray movies but fewer x264s(only ones that comply with the AVC 4.1 standard encoding process will work with my gf8600 VP2 with HW acceleration on) ..ones that dont comply with the standard are either blocky or give me a black screen(normal behaviour)

all in all..u can use ffdshow or cyberlink with hw acceleration turned off for best compatability with h264

for TV im using the Powerdvd cyberlink 7.3 codecs with hardware acceleration ON, gives me 50fps where normally it would be 25 fps

i am using vista with EVR switched on
