1. I am just setting up my first HTPC so I can't speak from experience, but my research has lead me to purchase a SkyStar 2 card. I have also heard good things about the FloppyDTV S2 card, but it connects to a firewire port via cable which just seems odd.

DVB Master and received it in a few days, but I live in Canada which is where the supplier is located.

GBPVR or MediaPortal - Satellite and FTA Forums. It appears that programming DVB-S cards is considered sacred and anyone who talks openly about it will be struck by a bolt of lightning. O crap, the sky is clouding over.
