Default Microsoft keyboard giving me headaches

Well, I don't really know if there anybody on this forum can help me with this, since it isn't really mediaportal related, but so many in here seems to know a whole lot about a whole lot of stuff, so I thought I'd give it a shot since this is the only forum that I am active in, at times atleast

I have a Microsoft Wireless Entertainment 8000 keyboard which works great except for a few things. This keyboard was made for mediacenter-computers, which was the reason for me buying it(spent about 500 dollars on it) and the bloody software that came with it won't let me change the function of many of the buttons on it, like the mediabuttons, and some shortcut buttons, including the so-called "green-button" which launches WIndows Media Center no matter what I do. With the software installed, I cannot use the media-keys for anything else than winamp, since it locks onto the default mediaplayer, and it does a poor job at it, since I most of the time must wait five seconds or so between keypresses of the mediabuttons. Without the software, those buttons work great, but then all shortcut-buttons drop dead.

Is there any other software around that can make use of the other buttons?
