| I can confirm that no matter what interlaced video or film source I throw to Purevideo it stays stuck on deiterlacing mode (video) always. This is when smart mode is set. I never get it to recognize film source other than setting it manually. When I do I cannot really see any picture quality change. It is good on video mode, but should be better in film mode. But I cannot see that. So it appears nothing happens... This is with PAL sources from DVB-T. Another question that is partly off-topic here (sorry), is that I get a pixelated picture in MyTV, as if scaling is done with lowest quality. In Media Player, Zoom Player, GB-PVR etc that doeds not occur. Only in Mediaportal, and only in MyTV (both TV versions, in latest RC3). I have all the latest drivers, and Geforce 8600. Tried all the VMR9 settings in config. Any hints? |

| I always used nvidia codec as it's the only one I tried that handles aspect ratio changes from DVBT correctly. I've not seen any issues with autodeinterlace. I check current mode by using the "!" key. De-interlaced 25fps PAL becomes 50fps when bob deinterlaced. Progressive material remains at 25fps. All that said, I should add that for a while I've forced video mode since I run in CRT PAL device, it makes no sense to deinterlace. |

Country: | Since I have had no response from Nvidia on my bug report (logged back on September 22nd), I telephoned their "Customer Care Escalation Team" in the USA to find out what has happened to my report. It seems that nothing has happened, and I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling that anything would happen. The chap I spoke to was going to take ownership of the issue and see what he could find out for me, but I don't hold much hope for a resolution anytime soon ... Quote:

Given Nvidia's lack of interest in this issue so far, I may have to appeal to the other MediaPortal users to help me by lobying Nvidia for a fix, or for the source code so we can fix it ourselves ... ![]()

I was playing that back in 60 Hz. Maybe my problem is with PAL film, I cannot set my LCD TV to 50 Hz, so it is a mismatch there. Maybe that is why PureVideo cannot set film mode for me in some instances. I'll investigate a bit more on this with different film materials and refresh rates (on my PJ wich can set 50 Hz).

Ah - maybe you have a point there. Maybe Nvidia only designed and tested this for North America, which is 60Hz NTSC? Which may also explain why Nvidia never allowed the PureVideo decoder to be sold outside the USA? I have only tested the PureVideo decoder with 50Hz PAL progressive (film) video, and that is what it fails on .... I don't think that I have access to any 60Hz NTSC progressive video to test it.

Nvidia should be castigated for selling a product that does not work as described, and then showing no interest in fixing those problems ... ![]()
