Synopsis::

I can t seem to get ffdshow post processing to work while trying to improve TV-quality. Ive checked the corresponding item in Configuration, the log file shows a line saying :

added filter:ffdshow raw video filter to graph

In the ffdshow video decoder configuration, Ive checked OSD (for testing), postprocessing (only right half for comparison), codecs: raw video: all supported.
However, Im seeing nothing that indicates ffdshow is indeed active and working.
Any hints?

I think than ffdshow has control over audio only in MP, no with video.
May I be wrong?

defcon yes you are wrong

sderuiter you should make raw all supported but not in ffdshow video decoder config, but in

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe ffdshow.ax,configureRaw

(check your ffdshow video decoder config shortcut and you'll see the difference)

(and when some dev adds better menu handling, multiple calls to modules and plugins with different options and much better dbase handling, it will be love... ah and a nice 3D front end and inter-module messaging system and...)

Thanks! That worked. Should I always enable postprocessing in ffdshow? Are there any optimal settings for improving tv? Are these settings changes realtime btw?

Don't be suprised if the end result using ffdshow for LiveTV turns our worse then not using ffdshow at all. I spent a lot of time tweaking ffdshow for best live tv performance, but the real difference in picture quality came from replacing my vga card with a Radeon X1300.

The hardware de-interlacing and video processing from Radeon X1300 is superior to anything produced by ffdshow, at least for interlaced video. The new ATi X1000 series of cards actually scores up to 123/130 in HQV benchmark which is extremely good. An X1300 will perform a lot better then your FX5200 and will only set you back about 80$ or so.
