Can anyone tell me how I get mediaportal to play back h.264 files using the coreavc codec? The files I have are h.264/ac3 in an .mkv container. Outside of mediaportal they play back just fine using media player classic, but within mediaportal they either stutter a bit or just play out of sync which makes them unwatchable.

I have no problem with CoreAVC here, but you need to be sure that it is the default codec for h264. (e.g. disabling ffdshow support of h264)

Is that all that is required? Just disable ffdshow h.264 decoding?

Tried disabling it in ffdshow and now I get no picture when playing back the files.

The fact that disabling ffdshow support of h264 changed something is certainly a proof that ffdshow was using before

Use graphedit to render a mkv file (file/render media file) and see how the graph is build, this will give you precious information.

You can open MP launch the video and connect to the remote graph from graphedit too. (so you'll see how the MP graph is build, should be similar to the first one)

Try to disable mpeg4 ffdshow support Or boost the CoreAVC Merit using RadLight Filter Manager.
