| I get no sound output over S/PDIF when playing my MPEG Files using Media Portal (or MediaPlayer9) that have a DTS sound track yet: * DTS works fine on DVD's * DD/PCM tracks work fine on DVD's, MPEG Files, and TV * DTS works fine from Nero Showtime (and Home) playing the same MPEG Files both as standalone or as an "external player" from Media Portal. DTS and DD is set to S/PDIF in ffdshow and in Media Portal. This is a realative big prob for me as I've ripped a bunch of Music DVD's that were in DTS to my hard drive as seperate Chapters that I renamed *.mpg. Thanks in advance for any ideas. | Portal Member | I am not sure it's an MP problem. I get DTS and AC3 fine from MPEG files in MP. Do you get AC3?

(and when some dev adds better menu handling, multiple calls to modules and plugins with different options and much better dbase handling, it will be love... ah and a nice 3D front end and inter-module messaging system and...)

| Yup I get AC3 (DD) transmitted aver S/PDIF all sources just fine (MPEG Files, DVD, TV) just NOT DTS from MPEG Files - yet it works fine from a DVD. I've also tried AC3Filter now as well but with the same results. |

Country: | If WMP does not support, then MP will not. Not sure whether WMP10/11 has added support for DTS because this is a trademarked function and used under license. So the likes of PowerDVD, WinDVD and Nero are licensed to use DTS. Check to see if there are any DTS plugins available for WMP. Regards

| I've "upgraded to WMP11" but same result...I can play the DVD in WMP or MP and get DTS sound, but play the ripped MPEG files and nothing.....the problem seems to be the cobination of DTS in MPEG files only win WMP/MP |

You may have too set up your Video files to use external player, or convert to AC3 surround. Regards

| Thanks - But what I don't get is that WMP must either support DTS or use one of the plugins/filtres that I have as it plays the DVD's fine, just not a ripped chapter on one! I'll play more with Showtime as an external player (I had a quick go - player the files but was not keen on the seperate, non-maximised window etc). |

| I've cross posted to in the Windows Media Player forums regarding DTS in MPEG files. I can use Nero Showtime as the external player and it plays the MPEG files with DTS perfectly, but the problem is that after playing the first mpeg clip it stays open and you MP loses focus of control. Is there a way to have Showtime automatically close after playing the clip? |

| While using Showtime as the external player gets me DTS sound it is not really an option as: 1) it does not exit when finished playing (you get a Showtime screen not MP) 2) you can only play one file (eg will not work through a playlist from MP) 2a) you can not skip back / fwd between tracks 3) different remote mappings would be requried. |
