| Portal Member | Area: Media Portal Program MP Version: 0.2.0.0 (2006-07-03) Windows Version: XPSP2 CPU Type: P4@2.0Ghz Memory: 1GB SDRAM Audio Codec Type & Version: I've tried about every combination. Audio Card: MM Gear External USB Soundcard (MM-USC100) Synopsis: WinDVD7 plays DVDs out through SPDIF correctly. The amplifier detects the DTS stream and plays it. No codecs that I select in MediaPortal allow MediaPortal to playback DVD digital audio through SPDIF. The closest I get is some codecs playback PCM through SPDIF. I've tried every combination of filter (NVIDIA, Intervideo/WinDVD7, PowerDVD) and none of them seem to outout DTS through SPDIF in MediaPortal, yet WinDVD7 does perfectly when run standalone. I've made sure all codecs are set to use SPDIF. Can anyone suggest what I can do to troubleshoot this, or even better, a solution. |

| Portal Member | If I set FFDShow to SPDIF for DTS and AC3 it will sometimes (one in maybe 30 times) work. Looking at GraphEdit it shows me various things (depending on what codecs are installed) connecting to DirectSound or WaveOut... As you'd expect. The confusing part for me is that when I play a DVD through SPDIF in WinDVD (Which always works and always outputs DTS/Digital/Dolby) it doesn't show up in GraphEdit, implying that it's doing something other than using its own filters? If I use the WinDVD Codecs in Media Player I get PCM sound output through SPDIF and it shows up in GraphEdit. If I use WinDVD standalone I get Digital Output through SPDIF but it doesn't appear in GraphEdit. Any suggestions, anyone? |

Country: | Mish, I also had this problems with SPDIF pass-thru. It seems like the menu sounds of MediaPortal, prevent SPDIF usage somehow. My solution: uncheck "Use GUI sound effects" in the MP config, and try again. It works for me (currently using FFDshow in "SPDIF" mode for both AC3 and DTS). |

| Portal Member | Yep, tried that, still no luck. WinDVD works fine, but using any codecs (even WinDVDs) in MediaPortal means only PCM gets output over SPDIF (at best, usually nothing). What really confuses me is that when I play a DVD using WinDVD it doesn't use any DirectShow filters, either it's hiding what it's using or it's outputting straight to SPDIF somehow. |

| Portal Member | HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo\Common\Audio Dec\"your app"\Audio = 6 This should help you, exchange "your app" is the program that you use to play dvd's, in your case it should be "media portal". audio = 6 means change the reg key named audio to have the value 6. |

| Portal Member | Some decoders, like windvd and powerdvd has problems setting the right spdif setting for 3 part apps, by manualle changing the before mentioned registry key you force the ,in this case windvd, decoder into spdif mode. If you have 7 and it works for you don't change it, if it does not work for you try to change it to 6, the values are for windvd 7, don't know if they are the same for earlier versions. |
