Default fast forward and rewind

MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0
MediaPortal Skin: Spinsafe Revolve
Windows Version: XP SP2
CPU Type: E2140
HDD: 500GB spinpoint
Memory: 2GB
Motherboard: Foxconn P4M9000
Video Card: Geforce 8500 / 512MB
Video Card Driver:
Sound Card: onboard Realtek
MPEG2 Video Codec: Nvidia
MPEG2 Audio Codec: Nvidia
h.264 Video Codec: CoreAVC
TV: Sony KDL40D3000
TV - HTPC Connection: DVI - HDMI

I've noticed that when using fast forward or rewind, the screen stays on the last frame, and doesn't update until you press play. Is this normal operation, or have I done something stupid to my codecs?

This is when viewing video files of different types, eg. AVI files with DIVX content, and MKV files with H264 too. Can't say what happens on TV mode, as I don't have a tuner card!

I get the same as above. Haven't messed abotu with my old SVN16xxx setup in a while to sort it out... I think it may be a fault of the old TSWriter I'm still using?

That's a known problem with the nvidia codecs.
They are quite old and not actively developed on.
Try with cyberlink or any other and it should work

Just bear in mind I'm using Cyberlink (PDVD v7.3) and have the same problem...

ok, I tried changing the mpeg2 decoder to FFDSHOW, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
It seems odd that I get the same issue with MKV files with H264, as I don't seem to be loading the nvidia codec for these...

I believe it has to with key frames. I know i can ffwd dvd isos wonderfully, but xvid are choppy at best. Perhaps I should make an xivid and make every 30 frames a keyframe, and test that.
