Country: | Hi, @patricon: Nice hint with the Postprocessing levels. Thanks! ![]() @savino: I haven't tried, yet. But it would really be nice to have this also for streaming. About the bars, I also have these once or twice. It seems to be a problem of ffdshow detecting black areas. Normally these are taken care off and removed. What ffdshow version do you use? Flip. |

Country: | Hi Guys, Sorry for the late response. I was very busy the last couple of weeks. It's great seeing everybody trying getting the best picture possible ![]() @Arn01805: you upscaling with the Nvidia card, is this really upscaling like ffdshow does or is it just "stretching" the picture fullscreen? If you compare, is the quality the same? THNX to you all!

Country: | @dekkers I'm not sure about the algorithm the harware upscaling makes use, But the quality is really PERFECT. It's upscaling is far better as the upscaling from the internal tuner in this LG LCD Television. When watching the public television like Nederland 1, in the right upper corner is the channel logo. On my LCD TV with internal tuner, the logo appears a bit fuzzy, I mean the edges are not sharp in contrast with the background. When I switch to my mediaportal (with firedtv, but also hauppage analogue tv) and observe the same logo, it's perfect clear and sharp. If someone wouldn't know, i could tell them it's HDTV. Between the firedtv and hauppage 150 I see big quality difference. I think becouse the hauppage tuner is not high end AV-hardware, but both keep clear lines with upscaling. The difference only shows up in the colors and contrast. On my old system I got already good quality (only stuttering coz of 100% cpu load) with ffdshow thanks to Flipger“s hints, but with new hardware quality is really the same(or slightly better) without the ffdshow upscaling. I see no need to further improve the quality. |

I have some questions: 1) why you have setting 1920x1536 in "resize & aspect"???? (1280x1024 x 1,5???) 2) for monitor 1366x768 is better to setting 1920x1080 or 1366x768 (resize)??? 3) your guide is good only for DVD or is OK for video and TV too????? Thanks. massimo | |

Country: | Hi, 1) Well, this has something to do with the Shannon-Nyquist sampling theorem. Setting the resize to the double resolution will lead to a more natural smooth looking picture. Unfortunately my CPU is not strong enough for this task, so I am doing a multiple of 1,5 2) I would recommend to use 1920x1080 3) Works for video and TV, too. Especially with analog TV the picture quality is risen. HTH, Flip. |

Country: | Hi, double screen resolution. The settings look OK. You can always change the zoom mode within MP while playback to check what suits you best. Just hit S or blue button while playback. Flip. |
