Country: | Area: Windows MP Version: RC4 with SVN of the 13th of may Skin: PMIII Windows Version: Windows XP Pro SP2 with all updates CPU Type: AMD Sempron 2800+ (@ 2,4Ghz) Memory: 768MB DDR400 Motherboard Chipset: ASUS s754 VIA (can't trace the model right now) Video Card: ATI 9250 128MB Video Card Driver: latest official Ati drivers Video Card Resolution: 1024x768 Video Render Type: VMR9 or Overlay (where can I check this?) Video Codec Type & Version: Cyberlink Audio Codec Type & Version: Cyberlink Synopsis: Somehow, almost half of my music collection is deleted. This has to be happened in the last 24 hours. I am the only person who uses the computer and has acces to the computer. I'm talking about +/- 78GB of music. It seems to be random. I have stored my music by artist in alphabetic folders (A-B-C-etc.). In some directories nothing is deleted. In others almost everything. It seems to have happend after I installed the last SVN of the 11th of may. I'm so fucking worried right now. This is desastrous because a lot of music I made myself seems to be deleted. That is unrecoverable. I was planning to buy a backup disc next month. I really hope someone can advise me on what software to use for recovery. |

| Stop using that hard drive with the music on it immediately. Any further usage could possibly make recovery more difficult. Using another hard drive (or just plug the 'music' hard drive into another computer as slave), try this free program: http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/download.htm Just outta curiosity, what file system were you using? If its NTFS, it could just be a security/file permission issue... Sam |

Thanks for the reactions. I altered the SP with the template. I use NTFS on a brand new 320 GB HDD (WD). | |

Country: | Hi, an easy and free program to get your lost data back is "Restoration" by Brian Kato. It's freeware. It helped me a lot. If don't find it with Google, send me an PM and I'll send it. Good luck. /Gerd |

Country: | So far I have aprtially recovered my music with Active@ Undelete. Hopefully I can get everything back. I don't have a clue what could have coused the deletion. I have a good virusscanner (NOD32). Never failed me, yet. |
