Default Hearing two languages simultaneously in avi - Works in WMP10

Area: Audio
MP Version: 0.1.1.1
Skin: default
Windows Version: XP Pro+sp2
CPU Type: P4 3.2 gHz with HT
Memory: 1Gb
Motherboard Chipset: Dell XPS
Video Card: NVidia 6800
Video Card Driver: Latest from nVidia.com
Video Render Type: Overlay
Audio Renderer: "DirectSound: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [DCC0]
Video Codec Type & Version: mpeg2dec
Audio Codec Type & Version: mpeg/ac3/dts/lpcm

Video file: DivX Codec
Audio: MPEG Layer-3 128 kbps

On some movies I'm hearing two languages at the same time. I promply installed the latest morgan stream switcher thinking that was the issue. The movie in WMP10 sounds fine, only one language played, but MP still plays the movie with two audio languages.

Any suggestions?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. DivX and XviD movies with dual audio play with both audio tracks mixed. If I play the movie normally with WMP10, it plays OK, and you can select, which audio track to play, but in Media Portal it does not work.

Mediaportal does not support multiple audio channel AVI's yet.
You'll have to pull out the stream you don't want.

I have found one temporary solution:

edit MediaPortal.xml file

in section:
<section name="movieplayer">

delete this line:
<entry name="audiorenderer">..something..</entry>

and Morgan audio switcher will work. I guess that there must be some incorrect audiorenderer setup call in Media Portal.

You have to do this probably each time you close "Configure".

Does it allow you to choose the streams?

i.e. Bring up the OSD - go to the audio icon and then see the two streams and then select them ?

I ended up removing ffdshow as my codec pack since I had a number of problems with it. A different codec pack solved my problems regarding hearing two audio streams inside MP.

The main problem I had with ffdshow is that the spdif output to my amp never seemed to include the center channel audio stream, so hearing the movies was very strange, even when there wasn't two languages going at the same time.

then the obvious question is: which codec pack did you choose in the end? Did you notice any quality/speed/stability difference between your choice & ffdshow besides the double audio stream issue?

What's the status on this topic?!

Can I watch DIVX with multiple audio streams? How?

I am just encoding some material to DIVX and dont know whether I need to decide for one audio track or not?!

I had the same problem, so I opened ffdshow audio configuration dialog and checked 'enable stream switcher', and now it's only in my chosen language
