Here's my dilemma: First off, I have a Windows MCE remote, which I'm using and works flawlessly within media portal. 90% of the media on my HTPC is x264 or some other type of HD encoding (720p and 1080p). Mediaportal's internal player will play about 80% of my files, while other files fail to launch. I can click on them, and nothing happens. Is there any way I can view the output of this and find out WHY it isn't launching these files? Media player classic will play all of my files, but I have been unable to find a plugin that will allow the MCE remote to control MPC. If there is one, will someone kindly post it for me? My mediaportal is configured with coreavc and the like. It is able to play 1080p and 720p videos, but will not launch a few. This is the last hurdle I have to get over, as this is going to my aunt, and I don't want her to have to exit media portal and launch the files through mpc. So what I'm looking for in a nut shell: 1) Media Player Classic plugin for MCE remote (or how to configure it for MPC) including close, so it will go back to mediaportal. of 2) a solution to play ALL video files from Media Portal without having to use an external player. Any comments and suggestions are welcome, and I thank you in advance! jaime |

Country: | Either follow Gooses guide, or try either Vista codec pack or cccp, both are based around recent FFDShow versions, using haali media splitter.

| Hey guys, I tried goose's guide to codecs but I'm still unable to play certain video files. It just makes the MP noise and doesn't launch anything. Any suggestions? I don't think it's a codec issue as I'm able to play files with the same codec requirements and higher. ie. 1080p x264 Please help! Jaime |

Country: | The problems you are having may well be a system problem, because MP cannot access the needed codecs. What format and decoder does gspot tell you these files need to use, load the file in the browse and then hit the render button at the bottom, it will tell you what you need to know.

Country: | I hate to stray off-topic... BUT... This thread is off-topic... You will get more exposure for your question, and potentially better resonse to it if you ask your question in a subforum that is dedicated to codec or playback issues,, such as this subforum Watch/Listen Media or Watch/Edit Videos or Codecs, External players, rather than a subforum that is dedicated to external status display devices. |
