Default Internal Player won't play AC3 of H264 files

MediaPortal Version: 1.0.2
MediaPortal Skin: Blue3
Windows Version: Windows Vista SP1
CPU Type: Intel P4 2.4ghz
HDD: System 80gb, Storage Samsung and WD 1tbs
Memory: 512mb DDR
Motherboard: Abit IT-7 Max 2
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Video Card Driver: 7.14.10.930
Sound Card: Avance AC97 audio (on-board)
Sound Card AC3:
Sound Card Driver: 6.0.6000.16386
MPEG2 Video Codec: MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)
MPEG2 Audio Codec: ffdshow
h.264 Video Codec: CoreAVC Video Decoder
Satelite/CableTV Provider:
Cooling: Random fans
Power Supply: 350watt
Remote: eHome
TV: Samsung 56" DLP
TV - HTPC Connection: VGA

I cannot for the life of me get the MP internal player to play AC3 files. AAC files decode properly - but I get nothing from AC3.

It is a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate. MediaPortal, FFDShow, and CoreAVC are the only things installed so far. I tried following Goose's Codec Guide, but no luck.

I've attached info of an MP4 with an AC3 that doesn't work, and an MP4 with AAC that does work.

Video file 1: Bolt.avi
Audio: AC-3
Bit rate: Constant, 384kbps
Channels: 6
Sampling rate: 48.0KHz
Resolution: 16bits
Stream size: 264mb

Video file 2: Battlestar Galactica - S02E01 - Scattered.mp4
Audio: AAC version 4
Profile: LC
Bit rate: Variable, 320kbps, maximum of 489
Channels: 6
Sampling rate: 48.0 KHz
Resolution: 16bits
Stream size: 418mb

In your ffdshow audio configuration screenshot, UNCHECK AC3 and DTS pass-through.

In ffdshow audio decoder configuration, select 'Codecs' from the left column. Then on the right pane, make sure under 'Formats' that AC3 and DTS decoder setting are NOT set to 'disabled'. Select 'libavcodec'.

Do you have set anything in post processing in MP? Or is it empty?

Why use ffdshow for audio? Try AC3Filter instead.
