Default IR Trans Intergration problem...

On 07.06.2006, hwahrmann added native support for IRTrans Server.
Problem...

When i press Green button, Media Centre starts. I thought MP installation prevented MC from starting.
But when using Microsoft external receiver all is good.

When in MP, pressing a button has an effect or being pressed twice.
Now, in configuration, this is what it says :
Quote:
You have to modify \Program Files\Irtrans\remotes\apps.cfg or actions will be executed twice.
Now what is it exactly that needs to be modified ?

When pressing Green button whilst in MP, makes MP exit full screen mode and freezes.

Any suggestions ?

I am using RC4 with SVN-06-08-2006--01-02.rar

****UPDATE****

ok. with external microsoft receiver and MPTray installed, remote works fine.
With Built-in IR receiver, Green button starts MC. Why ? i have installed MPTray and i can confirm that it starts when booting.
Also, if i am in MP and i press the green button, MC will start whilst in MP ???? WHat the F^&K ???

I am starting to think that it is a mapping problem. Reason being, that the remote supplied with my Zalman HD160 case looks identical to the MCE remote ( UK version ) with the lack of the TV power button.
Also, pressing the same button on both remotes can have a different effect in MP..

hmmmmmm... what to do...

Hi vvulture,

i still need to update the wiki on that. Had no time yet.
The Problem is, that IRTrans has a file called apps.cfg, where for some remotes the default actions are taken.
If you open the file, you'll see a bunch of entries there.
Don't know exactly, what they are, because i'm not at home at my dev PC.
But you should be able to find them, somewhere in the middle, having Mediacenter or somwthing like that in the title.
Disable the complete block and you are ok.

Best way, would be to rename apps.cfg to apps.cfg.ori and restart IRTrans. Then the remote is working inside MP, but does no longer recognize commands outside MP.

I'll add the exact changes needed, once i'm home.

regards,

Helmut

Hey that sounds great hwahrmann,

But, if it will not work outside MP, does that mean if you exit out of MP you will not be able to restart MP with remote ?

I guess its no big deal for me anyway, as it is a dedicated machine and i will not venture out of MP unless i have to.

Also, does it make a difference if i use the setup disc i got with the Zalman case or the IRTrans files from the IRTrans website ?

Finally, also on the IRTrans topic, i can't for the life of get my VFD to work... at all... any suggestions ?

thanx again

Great to hear it works.
When at home, i'll have a look on how you would be able to start MP with the remote.

As for the VFD, it should work via the standard External Display Plugins. Look in this thread. Here you'll find users that have it running. You could PM them.
I'm afraid, i can't help, cause i'm using a model with Touch screen and don't have a VFD therefor.

Hello hwahrmann.
Many thanks for your dev with irtrans, it's a long time I wait for it for my originae X15E HTPC case, thank you.
I have renamed apps.cfg as noted before.
Unfortunately, when I click to mapping in setup (configuration.exe), crash appears.
please, click to enlarge.

I can send you error.log and mediaportal.log, if you want.
error.log begin with :
10/06/2006 11:05:38 Exception ystem.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\defaul ts\IrTrans Onkyo_dvd.xml'.
The Onkyo_dvd is a programmable remote for my AV receiver and, this is the remote name existing in C:\Program Files\IRTrans\remotes\Onkyo_dvd.rem
If I leave mediacenter as default, clicking mapping seems to be continued with mapping process.
Can you do something for that, please ?
Bests regards.

update : works fine, it seems this error appears only if no xml file name in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\custom
in my case : C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\custom \IrTrans onkyo_dvd.xml

Now it doesn't crash anymore, it shows a warning. Nevertheless you need a mapping file, of course. HWahrmann will give you info on it in case you need it, I think.

many thanks for your answer, mpod
well, I have created an .xml file by myself in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\custom and all works fine, now 8)
This issue is only a test for existing file or not, I believe.
Bests regards.

Move it to "defaults", as you don't have a default mapping yet (only in this special case!). Otherwise the next SVN build will block the editor for you.
