Default K-Lite Codec Pack - Recommended?

Hi all,

I have been using the K-Lite codec pack and i have been having lots of problems playing video with MediaPortals internal player...

Has anyone else used this codec pack or can someone recommend something that they know is stable?

Thanks,
JeromeF

Hi,

codec pack are evil.....
At least they are not recommended, because they can screw up your system.

Try ffdshow:

Hi,

My dad and other people have said the same thing. I guess the easiest option is never a good one...

I will uninstall it then and try single codecs.

Thanks

EDIT:

I have used seperate codecs and it now seems to be running ok, so far so good...

I have been using the K-Lite codec pack full for a long time now and everyting works with out any problems.
Maybe it evil but it easy to make all movie formats runing.
The only thing i had to add after the K-lite installation where the Haali Media Splitter, to make the multi sound channels work in MKV files.
I have tested the ffdshow out of the box, but i had alot of problems to make everyting work...but it could also be me that did not configured it corect.

HTH,
Flip.
ffdshow is included in the K-Lite codec pack. I've been using the pack for years now and if I keep updating it regularly I never have problems palying video or audio.

I just had a quick look.

I cannot think of what all the stuff in the full pack will do to a system ?

I have only ever needed ffdshow, a new build does most things.

It's great that the codec pack works for most people with no problems, but the thing is that it can't be a perfect solution for all systems. That's where the troubles can occur. If you're lucky, it's great. If not then you will regret installing it.

Well it seems now i've been using seperate codecs i'm still getting problems playing video. It's not crashing so badly now, but it skips/jumps/freezes quite abit.

So maybe it is down to something else?

Maybe the onboard video?
