the incomplete recording is the input of the conversion and makes a new succesfull mpeg ( the input is just a file, complete or not)

i have no idea of a solution, i look after different things:
drive space, quota settings, power control settings.
the problem is there also not always, but for mee to many.
i hate it when i record a movie en the plot is missing.
at this moment i convert the recordings automaticaly en skip first to the end to see everythings is there

What are you using to convert them? I downloaded a trial version of something but it kind of sucks. I'd like to find something better. I see a lot of people refering to doing this from within media portal. How do you do that?

thats simple: go to my tv, choose recorded tv en ther is an option "compress"
with this option you can convert to mpeg by default.

with my last two recordings i can see that's the recordings stops at midnight. and that was before the given stop time.
maybe thats the problem for the corrupted recording
i don't no why this happens, does somebody know???????

I actually tried using that to convert them from within media portal and it didn't seem to work. If I select a program to convert it pauses for a second like it's trying to do something and then nothing happens. I wonder if the two problems are related.

I'm sorry, I don't know much about that. Could you maybe give me an explanation of how to check to see if this is my problem as well? Since I have Windows XP should this even be a problem?

If your drive is fat32 which does sound likely.

Right click with mouse on hard disk icon C: usually and select properties, look for file system.
This goes for any hard disks you may have installed.

Check your codecs are fine with Filmerit.
Upload Logs\Pictures etc, use the "Go Advanced" and select the + feature to upload\attach files.

Ok, I have been using an external hard drive that is FAT32 I bought two of them and both are. I took the one that I have not been using and formatted it to NTFS and am currently recording a movie to see if this fixes the problem. If it does is there an easy way to convert the other one so that I don't lose everything that's already on it?

Format one NTFS then copy files from one to the other, then format the other one.

Only way i can think of saving files, as formatting will delete your files (yes we know it does not really but thats not for here).

No quick fix.

Regards

yup - go to command prompt, and run "convert x: /fs:ntfs:", where x: is the drive letter of the external drive you want to convert.
no data loss this way
