Default mkv files with H.264 - cannot switch subtitles

Hi

To save space, I am converting my DVDs to mkv files with H264 encoded video, original Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack, two subtitles (English and Czech) and chapters. I use MeGUI and mkvmerge GUI.

When I play resulting video in MediaPortal I cannot switch subtitles. I always see the first one (English) but the subtitle dialog is completely empty (see attached screenshot). Yellow remote button does nothing. However if I play mkv files with Xvid video that were created (muxed) with VirtualDubMod I can switch the subtitles without any problem. This is puzzling me.

If I play the H264 mkv file in Zoomplayer or in any other directshow player I can switch the subtitles without any problem either through the player dialog or through the Haali splitter icon in the tray.

For playback I use:
Haali media splitter 1.6.351.0
CoreAVC Video decoder 1.2.0.0
DScaler audio decoder
DirectVobSub 2.37

This is in MediaPortal version 0.2.1.0.

I have uploaded 1 minute long file (11MB) test file here. Please try it.

Another problem (maybe related) is that I cannot navigate in MP by chapters.

Anybody has any ideas about my problem?

Thanks

Tomas

No reply. Does it mean that nobody tried the linked sample, or that the subtitle switching works fine for all but me?

Please download and let me know:

Did not know that MP could change subtitles unless it was a DVD.

Tried with a couple of DivX files and never got it to work.

Julio, sure you can. I am attaching a screenshot from Xvid compressed movie in mkv container with 2 subtitles. This is how it looks in Replicant skin.

And here is a 30s 6MB sample of above mentioned Xvid movie, where subtitle switching works.

is your h264 decoder by any chance coreavc?

(i have these issues with .mkv h264 resolved but im still fiddling around for it, gimme a week or so for a patch)

edit: ok im blind

but i just tested with my own build, and out of the box the subtitles dont work even for your sample, they work after my patch tho, just fine, so keep waiting
