Default MKV files won't play in MediaPortal

Hi there,

I recently installed RC4 of MediaPortal, and everything seems to work fine except .mkv files. I usually play them in vlc. I installed that Halii (however you spell it) media splitter, and the mkv files show up in explorer as a "Matroska" file (never seen this before).

What happens when I click on any mkv file in MediaPortal is the computer becomes unresponsive and I have to do a hard reset (can't even bring up task manager).

Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

Cheers.

I use the Matroska SPlitter located here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=82303

I just register it with radlight filter manager and have never had a problem with .mkv files.

Does the mkv file contain subtitles? I never managed to make mediaportal work with 'em. Way I worked around it was to strip out the subtitles, then worked perfectly. May not be relevant, but it might work?

yes the mkv contains subtitles and this is the only interest for me (hear native language and have subtitle to help to understand). I will try to strip out the subtitles and see but the same files play fine in WMP.

Have you tried the latest versions of haali's splitter? http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/mkx.ts.7.exe - it might help. I haven't tried any subtitles recently. It does seem to be something odd in the way MP is doing things, since, like you, it works flawlessly in other programs for me.

I tried also this one! One of the developpers could say if there is a known problem between MP and mkv files or if this would be a local configuration problem ???
Thanks

I made some tests with other mkv files :
when there is only one video track and one audio track the file play fine
when there is more than one audio track or subtitles the file does not play
Someone could confirm that ?
Thanks
