MP stoped playing .MP4 video Files any ideas why ?

It played them when i installed it. But now nope. The clean format and reinstall did fix my .VOb and .TS and >TP video file playing problem. Infact played everything.


The .Mp4 starts to play i get a flash like its going to play and then nothing. The file plays in VLC Player, just fine.

Can anyone suggest a fix. I did install some more codecs to get some Divx files working. But i uninstalled them but still did not work. I instlled FDDshow for my Divx now.


Any help would be appreciated.

/PS This is what Gspot tells me the video file is..

File Type: 3GPP Media (.3GP) [MP4 compat.]
Mime Type: video/mp4

Does your MediaPortal.log file give any clues as to why the MP4 files will not play?

VLC uses it's internal codecs, so it's not possible to test with it if direct show filters are messed up. Please, try the same file with Windows Media Player.

Finaly got it working. Uninstalled lot sof codecs and reinstall and tried the file in MP. Finaly worked.

Funny thing though it plays in MP Classic now. And uses FDDSHOW. But and the two video and Audio tabs come up in the taskbar. Thing is when i play the video file wiht MP in windowed mode the two icons do not apear in the taskbar ??

So is it using FDDShow or not.

The codec that i think got it working was 3ivx D4 4.5. But maybe just the way i reinsytalled the codecs did it

Iam tryint to encode the video file to WMV HD. But boy is this codec hard to encode. Procoder 2.0 dont even do it. Divx Create has not idea. And any other encoder does not want to know about it.

Procoder 2.0 was my best bet. It lets you view it but wont encode nothing but black. Does the audio ok though

Oh well sortrf anyways. No idea why but it works.
