MPEG not playing in MP and Mediaplayer

I've got an mpeg file that was taken from an SVCD. It plays fine in winDVD 6 but won't play at all in mediaplayer 10 (Just hangs) and not in Media Portal either.... (hangs for about 10 secs and then nothing!)

Anybody have any ideas where I should be looking to fix this?
