Default Nero Showtime 2 plugin?

I wanted to start converting my DVD's to mpeg4 to save space on my HDD so chose Nero Recode 2 as it retains the chapter information. However, after trying to play the file back through Media Player 10 found there were no chapters. I tried playing it through Nero Showtime 2 and the chapters were there. I don't know wht MP10 can't find the chapters; maybe it is something in the encoding that Recode 2 does but I really want to be able to use them. Is there any way of incorporating a plugin for Nero Showtime 2 or finding out why MP10 can't do it?

Sounds like chapters in an mpeg4 file are a non standard feature? Are you sure there is any standard for embedding chapter information in mpeg4 files? I haven't heard of such a feature.

I'm not sure it's a standard yet. Divx don't implement it yet but is something they will be doing soon. As far as I know the chapter information is taken from the .ifo file (I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong). A free fully functioning trial of Nero 7 Premium or Recode 2 is available from www.nero.com if anyone wants to download it and see if they can figure out how it works.

To support a proprietary extension to the standard you would need a player that supports the proprietary extensions. Even if they have a codec that supports it MediaPortal would need to as well unless you can configure it to use their player.
