Synopsis::

Hi everyone,

I am just new to the forums and I read all the stuff about compressing files but I still can't compress to XviD. I have the Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder also but still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I also wanted to see what Video & Audio Codec should I be using, does it matter ? I have couple of choices in my settings but I am not quite sure which one I should go with.

And one last question would be about TV channels, after the scanning, it found the channels I receive through my cable provider but I have a little problem. If I put channel 14 with my remote, it doesn't go to Channel 14 but it rather goes to the 14th channel it found during scanning. I hope it makes sense.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

1) Here someone else has zu jump in, I do not use this feature.

2) The codec has influence on your playback. So you may try others, if you want a different / better picture quality or if you have problems like stuttering or out of synch. Personally I get good results with MPEG2Dec.

3) Thats the "unlogical channel numbering" problem.
Configure->Television->Channels (uhmm guessing here) index blabla checkbox (non-US) uncheck :?

HTH, Flip.

This is a bit confusing, but there are two different Elecard MPEG2 decoders avaliable, only one of them works to compress to XviD. I haven't got around to trying the right one myself so I can't confirm that it works, but have a look at this thread.
