No XviD

I put it in this forum since I suspect it's a codec problem.

Area: Media Portal Program / My Movies
MP Version: 02.0
Skin: Blue Two
Windows Version: XP Professional SP2
CPU Type: AMD Sempron 3200+
Memory: 512MB DDR
Motherboard Chipset: Asus K8V-MX
Video Card: MSI Radeon 9550
Video Card Driver: 6.14.10.6451
Video Card Resolution: 800x600
Video Render Type: VMR9
Video Codec Type & Version: DScaler, Elecard, Mpeg2Dec, Cyberlink, all have the same problem
Audio Codec Type & Version: MPEG/AC3/DTS/LPCM Audio Decoder
TV Card: Pinnacle PCTV 310i
TV Card Type: DVB MPEG
TV Card Driver: 1.3.2.6

Synopsis: XviD files do not play. However they play in Media Player.
This line in the log file does not look good:

In case anybody is interested, it was caused by ReClock. Deinstalled it, now it works fine.

Generally its recommended to stay away from programs such as this, they dont play well with other programs.

(i) I thought ReClock was acutally recommended to get picture and sound in sync?

(ii) Can you elaborate on what are "programs such as this?"

Programs that are designed to effect all live video/audio on the pc. Fiddling around with those can sometimes end up stuffing up the whole pc and when you have to format because of that you wont be happy (ended up having to do it recently because ffdshow stuffed up my sound, not touching that codec again). Codec packs are another example which are generally discouraged. Reclock has caused a lot of problems since Ive been on the forums so its generally a good idea to avoid it like the plague.

I have this proble also I'm running last nights cvs built and can play DVD and stream all the traillers from the net, but can't play scvd/xvid/avi's.

I don't use reclock but I did install ffdshow

Can you play it in Media Player?

Check with Graphedit what codecs are used. In my case reclock was used and I found an error message in the reclock log file.

Check what happens if you select other codecs in Graphedit.

Next, you could try to just install the XViD codec, like Koepi's XViD codec build. You can get that codec from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/Koepi_XviD_download.htm

EDIT: another approach would be to use the Radlight Filter Manager and change the merit of the codec you want / don't want. If you want to find out which installed codecs are able to playback an .AVI file, you can use something like G-Spot.
