picture too bright/no x264 plaback

Hi,
I finally switched from Media Player Classic to a MediaPortal and have the following problems. I am using the latest ffdshow from codecs.com.

1. The picture is too bright. --edit:-- As I found out, this is because VRM9 has only a black colorspace of 16-255. Is there any way to change this? --edit2:-- fixed it myself^^

2. MediaPortal doesn't play my x264 720p files (.mkv), it does nothing when I start them.

3. 720p-Trailers from apple.com work fine, but I can't fast-forward.
