Default Poor DVD play back

Hi all.
I seem to have a DVD polayback problem I amhopin gsomeone may have seen.
It seems that when I play a DVD the disc starts then just as it shifts to another advert video I get pixels on the screen and the video is gone. The audio continues. Sometimes I get a bit farther but in general no luck. If I rip the DVD using DVDFabdecrypter, it will play that disc. If I try the disc on the device outside of MP, I get a CSS encryption error. I assume I have a codec issue. But I am at a lose to understand what. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It sounds like you are trying to play copy protected DVDs - in which case you may need "DVD43" for them to work with MediaPortal?

Hi Taipan

Can the same copy protection problem be true for CD's because some of my Cd's will also not play in MediaPortal?

Quite possibly - but I don't have any personal experience with copy protected CDs.

Sony released a few cd's that have copy protection on them and will not play on a pc, do not know if anyone else has, but i know they have since reversed this decision.

Check your codecs are fine with Filmerit.
Upload Logs\Pictures etc, use the "Go Advanced" and select the + feature to upload\attach files.

Several other labels did copy-protection as well. But as far as I know it differed from country to country whether the labels tried it. IIRC Universal along with Sony and one or two more labels used audio cd copy protection schemes here in Denmark.

If your cd has copy protection then return it to the store and demand a refund because the product is intentionally broken and won't play on your setup.

But as Paranoid Delusion says, most have since stopped applying that annoying nonsense.
