I'm having some issues when playing back .ts files that are mpeg2 video with ac3 sound. If I play them outside of media portal using vlc/wmp/powerdvd etc. I get full screen video with 5.1 sound out of my amp using sp/dif. When I play them back via mediaportal I get a thin grey bar along the bottom of the video and also only pcm 2 channel sent via the sp/dif to my amp (the amp reports only pcm being sent to it). No combination of changing codecs for either video or audio seem to fix this problem. I've tried using ac3filter, ffdshow etc. If I play back avi's etc that have ac3 audio then I get 5.1 sent to the amp no problems whether I playback through mediaportal or just standard windows. Anyone got any ideas what could be up? This used to work about 6 months ago and I haven't changed anything codec wise since then.

Well you could use PVAStumento to demux the transport stream:
http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm
and then use the ImagoMPEG-Muxer:
http://www.videohelp.com/~liquid217/ImagoMPEG-Muxer.zip
to create a mpeg that should playback without problems.
That doesn't solve .ts playback problem but could be used as a workaround.

Thanks, yes, this is similar to the solution I've taken. I'm remuxing to matroska containers and this works a lot better. Better playback and seeking and sorts the problems with the audio and the video.
