For no apparent reason I have also been getting this error message lately, before it has always worked flawlessly regardless of which of DirectDraw or Direct3D I would use. Using DirectDraw solves the issue for me as well, although I'm not sure what exactly the effect is of doing so. I have to point out though that in recent betas of Reclock the DirectDraw is actually marked as "preferred" instead of Direct3D which used to be so. That if anything should point to that using DirectDraw does not result in a lowered functionality. It would be strange to put an option at the very top of the program's config which renders the whole thing unusable

If anybody has any insights to what the effect of either choice is I would be very interested in hearing it.

I've tried these settings some more and both are using the clock to sync with correctly, confirming that both are viable to use.

Direct3d = Gives jerky video, and tearing (because lack of vmr9 exclusive mode)
DirectDraw = No tearing (vmr9 exclusive on or off), gives smooth video, except low bandwidth scenes, (like still background, person walking around far from the camera)

It would be great to have a more "standardised" video clip in h.264 container for testing image smoothness, something like a couple of vertical lines travelling horisontally across the screen at constant speed. Normally I try to find a place in a film where there's a relatively clean pan (travelling over mountain chains in Planet Earth for example), but it's always hard to compare my impressions doing this.

DDR is meant to stand for DirectDraw, which is one of two interfaces used to render computer graphics (the other one being Direct3D). I'm not sure what the difference is between the two, but I know that Direct3D formerly was used for PC games. As I said above I would love for ome knowledgeable person to explain what difference it makes to use either one in Reclock

If you are using reclock and vsync (which i recommend) you can press shift+ctrl+alt+f9 and f10

This will show a tearing bar, which helps you see tearing (it should never break in two) and to show judder and stutter (if it moves super smooth, your good but if if jerks around video does so aswell).

Read more in the link in my sig.

There is a option to correct the pitch in reclock, which makes everyone sound as the original track. I use it and recommend it.
