Default Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

Thanks guys for your tips, the thing is that everything else works very well with my onboard 8300 (MKV's 1080p, SD TV etc), the only issue is the HDTV part. But I find it strange that when playing a HDTV recording with Windows mediaplayer it plays flawless and within MP the same recording is choppy, just like live HDTV. Any Ideas why? And doesn't that indicate that my GPU is powerfull enough (since it plays perfect with WMP)?

Sorry for all my (silly) questions, but this issue is so frustrating and I just want to fix this before the Olympics

Is there a setting in the driver that could make the low fps problem better?

My Cabelprovider is Canal Digital, and my TV is a Full HD TV, the refreshrate in windows is set to 50Hz.

You GPU is not slow for HDTV, it is slow for MP...
I bet you will have no problem in GB-PVR :/

MP is not just a normal player. It runs a 3D GUI over the top of everything, and this combined with high definition and de-interlacing is what is blowing your config.

I run a 4670 with MP + XP with VA de-interlace of both H.264 and MPEG-2 to a 1920 x 1080 screen and it works fine. But as you'll see from some recent posts, it took me a while to get it right. Can't comment about the Vista / Aero aspect that Owlsroost mentions.

But you are right, it is new card, with new drivers issues...
With MP + Aero + Vista/Win7 + 1080i to 1920 x 1080 display ?

hoborg,

I finally managed to record a clip from Dave ja vu that demonstrates the strange AR they use for programmes. The clip switches between full 16:9 for the adverts/idents and pseudo 16:9 for the actual programme.

Himalaya with Michael Palin - Dave ja vu - 2010-02-09 - 19_00_1b.mpg

If you find it's not switching, try momentarily pausing playback (in MPC) after the point where the programme starts, which seems to trigger it. I don't have to do this on one of my PC's but do on the other for some reason.

Looks like the problems is in MPG. After open and save in Womble (without reencoding), problem is gone.

Are u sure that Windows Media Player is using a DXVA compatible codec? Cause if it doesn't that would explain why it is smooth outside of MP.

What i try to point out here is that maybe your Windows Media Player is using software decoding resulting in smooth playback.

I suggest using Media Player Classic - Home Cinema Edition for testing files outside MP, it is light and very detailed when it comes to codecs that are used during the playback of a file.

The original TS demonstrates the same problem, so it's not the MPG.
