Ok I have been struggling with this issue for a while now and I just really need some help with trying to figure it out. I have done several fresh installs w/ the same results and I have tried a few different codec packs which I am starting to figure out from forum posts all over the web, aren't very good.

When watching a video either on the local hard drive or via a network location I get a slight pause, usually less than a second, then the video catches up with itself either after a stutter and skip or a stutter and then rapid fast forward to catch up. I have noticed this most often with divx or xvid videos but also yesterday I had it happen with a wmv 720P movie.

I have stress tested the system big time and it is stable as can be. I have verified that I still have the problem while viewing using Media Player Classic so it leads me to believe it might have something to do with codecs.

At this point it happens several times during a movie and just takes away from the overall enjoyment. Please help me figure out how to fix this. Thanks.

Rob

EDIT: I have also watched the process manager during playback and it is usually anywhere between 25% and 45% CPU usage, almost never goes above that.

I have an issue whereby playing recorded HDTV from within MP I see video stutter. When I play the same dvr-ms file using an external viewer (WatchHDTVPLAY, or WMP) it plays fine. CPU is only about 17-20% outside while MP adds some overhead and shows 25-30% for the same file. Do we know which codecs are used for playback of recorded TV? Assuming it's the same as what you assigned to My-TV, the (overhead and studder) differences must be associated with MPs built-in player. Is there a way to assign an external player for Recorded-TV playback?

For me unticking exclusive mode helps on HD viewing under MP, no more stuttering... but then there's again tearing when looking at recorded or live SD =/. Using forceware drivers. I pointed this out on other thread, you might check if disabling exlusive mode helps for you?
