| Ok, I'm not sure where to put this since I don't know if it's hardware or software related, I have a feeling it's software related though. I have a sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum and a set of 6.1 surround sound speakers. Now when I ran my calibrator DVD to check to see if all my channels were working right, I became alarmed to notice that my CMSS was turned on (one of those surround sound emulator functions). So, I turned it off to let only true surround sound tracks work on the appropriate channels. When I did this, all surround on the rear channels and sub ceased to work. Using Creative's channel ID tool, I did verify that the creative application could output on each channel indiviually, but what am I missing to make surround work in Media Portal? My Audio codec is currently set for AC3Filter and my Audio renderer is set to SB Audigy 2 Audio [DF00]. Any help that can be given to get true surround working is immensly appreciated!!! |

Country: | If you are using the analogue cables out, then you dont need AC3Filter. Just use your normal mpeg2 codecs and tell it to decode to 5.1 channels. |

Country: | You are definately using analogue out right? Check in Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices that its set to 5.1 Control of what the sound is being decoded to is setup inside the codec. |

So my settings are Audigy 2 ZS on analogue speakers, output-settings in audio codec to digital (S/PDIF) and it´s working perfectly - nothing connected to S/PDIF, but it´s working. ![]() If i try the standard-analogue one, with speaker-selektion etc. - just stereo is there, doesn´t matter which codec i use... | |

| Try using "Reclock" - select waveout as the renderer. This fixed my issues (I have a audigy2 too, though this may be coincidence). Without using Reclock I get only stereo - even though I can see all 6 channels being output by (eg ffdshow) and delivered to the renderer. When I did a search I found something about it being a MS bug - that is perhaps fixed in MCE - although this is hearsay. Anyway, try "Reclock" - set it to forced, waveout - and see how it goes. Though Reclock might introduce other issues... I know some people don't like it, for me it works just fine and is a must if only for the fact it solves my multi-channel analog sound issue. Oh BTW I'm also using kxproject drivers: http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?skip=1 |
