Default Trying to get WMP10 to play *.MOV files first

It seems that MP relies on WMP10 working perfectly. That it can play quicktime *.mov files, and that it can handle every other video file source.

Well I am close but I can not get WMP10 to play my *.MOV files. I am using quicktime alternative to play files fine via Media Player Classic. But any attempt to play quicktime files within WMP10 results in sound only.

Does anyone know what setting I might need to adjust or activate to get this working? The various discussion groups for Quicktime Alternative are not helpful.

*** I was able to get flash to play fine, but not quicktime files

Media Player classic is freestanding and has all the codecs built into it's program, so will play just about anything.

Might be time for WMP11 (from post thinking you have WMP9), because if there is something broken in your version of WMP updating will fix it.

Check your codecs are fine with Filmerit.
Upload Logs\Pictures etc, use the "Go Advanced" and select the + feature to upload\attach files.

I do not think anything is broken. I had a similar issue with FLASH videos. I had to find some setting under WMP10 that had to be changed to handle the stream. Now I am in a similar situation with MOV (quicktime) files. All my other file formats play fine (XVID & DIVX & DVD and anything) with WMP under MP.

I am trying to see if the CoreAVC codec folks can help me get *.MOV files playing under WMP10 and if that works I will be set.

If i'm not mistaken, I believe that when you install quicktime alternative (or any other "alternative" for that matter), it prompts you which player you would want to use to play the specific format... So try to just reinstall it (or find it's settings exe) and select WMP in the list of installed players.. Btw, why would you need MPC if you are using MP on this box anyway? Just another piece of useless software in this case.. But that is just my understanding..

MPC is just for a test to see if I have some functionality, independant of MP. I would not want to use it for more than that.

Another thread mentioned the issue. I need to try the suggestions here first

fixed

Completely fixed. See my other posts about how I got this running with WMP10 (kept thinking I had WMP9 when I always had WMP10). The tool I used was the Haali Splitter and the ffdshow application. As soon as I installed that, everything started working.
