TV Card Driver: MPEG2 Video Codec: nvidia purevideo MPEG2 Audio Codec: nvidia purevideo Satelite/CableTV Provider: optus b1 HTPC Case: Cooling: Power Supply: Remote: MCE Remote TV: Sony 29" TV - HTPC Connection: s-video I have some AVI files that when played do not come out my 5.1 speakers correctly. That is, the sound is equal from all speakers rather than centred, louder at the front etc. From playing around with graphedit, i noticed that these particular avis use the avi splitter to divide into audio and video streams and then the audio stream goes directly to directsound. If i insert the ffdshow audio processor between the splitter and directound and then configure the ffdshow audio processor correctly i can get the sound output i'm after. The difficulty that i'm looking for advice on is how to make this graph i've now built the default for these files. If i save the graph it does not get used when i subsequently open the files with MP or WMP. Is there a way of registering this graph for this particular file type and making it the default? I'll be very grateful for any help that anyone can give. Cheers m |

| Portal Designer | In ffdshow codecs configuration select ac3 or whatever audio codec the avi uses. That should register ffdshow to handle those. Unless I'm missunderstanding you?

Country: | Thats about the only way to do it, directshow is designed to pick the best codec (highest merit) and doesnt pre-build them. Use FFDShow specifically set to handle that audio. |
