WMV and FFDSHOW audio filter

same here. 6 channel mkv everything plays fine. for wmv, plays fine with multichannel audio output to my receiver. however with mediaportal i just get stereo output...

sorry, igmore my post, fixed my problem by using ffdshow as the audio decoder, and ac3 filter as a post processor, may be an unrelated issue

I think I am having a related problem. I have media portal running on a laptop with stereo audio out to a 37" TV. The problem I'm having is that Media Portal is not downmixing the 6 channel audio to stereo. The result is that I can't hear any dialog and only get to hear what come out the left and right channel in the 6 channel setup. I've been using Media Player Classic as an external player, but I'd like to use the integrated one and this is the only problem I'm having.

Is this a related issue, or a problem with an easy fix?

EDIT: I had to tell FFDSHOW to and Media Player Classic both to downmix to stereo to get it working there. I think maybe the sound card in the laptop supports 6 channel audio, but isn't outputting stereo from the headphone jack.

Edit Again: I fixed it. And this solution may help everyone else here as well. Under Movie post processing, add ffdshow audio decoder. Configure the Mixer for your preferred speaker setup, and make sure its enabled.
