Any tricks you can share as to how to get DTS/AC3 out over HDMI (if you're using HDMI)?

I have DTS/DD enabled in Windows and the tests through the Sound control panel (Realtek HDMI properties) works fine on all channels.

But as soon as I get into a BD file (or any file with multi-channel audio) all I get is two channel. I'm using the Cyberlink H264 decoder for video. Tried several differernt audio decoders but nothing but two channel.

you can't.. HDMI sound from this board only supports two channel audio.. I use SPDIF for DTS/DD.
The HDMI 1.3 spec does only count for the video quality.. (see gigabyte mainboard link)

I managed to get it though using AC3Filter. I set MP to use AC3Filter for the audio decoder and enabled AC3Filter for all output formats and also made sure to enable SPDIF output. It's now sending the DTS and DD audio out through HDMI which is being decoded by my receiver (even though it's set for SPDIF).

cool i didn't know that.. but then again i don't have the receiver yet to hook up wit hdmi
I was also confusing it with True HD and DTS-HD that is not supported . The mainbord claims to be supporting HDMI 1.3 (that should include these new sound formats) but if you look at te small print it is only 1.3 for video spec

If you have SPDIF out to your amp are you using ASIO to get it raw out to the receiver if not is this possible?

I'm looking at this motherboard and tempted to get a set of logitech z-5500. To get the best audio I believe you have to get the audio not touched by the kernel so you need some kind of ASIO driver to do this?

I couldn't say for sure but I'm thinking there should be no problems with it sending the digital audio out SPDIF to the receiver.

As for the Logitech speakers, aren't hey just analog? If so you should just be able to put them into the respective analog jacks on the mobo. Not sure which audio decoder you'd pick...have to play around.

The realtek HD Audio driver settings in combination with the AC3Filter have the option to send the original/raw (unprocessed) signal through SPDIF out so the receiver can decode it. ASIO is not needed.

I believe that particular set also has the option to use SPDIF in so you can hook up other devices.

Thank you very much for your replies! I was looking at getting digital out to AV receiver then to some speakers but this would be very expensive when I could just buy a decent set of speakers for pc. As Armandp said these speakers do the decoding themselves .

So I just select AC3filter from the audio decoder then spdif in the AC3filter settings and im good to go?

i believe (from memory) n AC3Filter you have to select output: AS IS (no change) and select USE SPDIF for the formats you want your receiver to decode.
