Ok the wait is over - i need my home server this week because i'm doing some home improvement so i ordered the components. I actually ordered an 4850e CPU that is going to replace the BE-2400 in the HTPC. Which in turn will be the heart of the server. If i'm lucky the server's GA-MA78GM-S2H board will be revision 1.1 and that means a total rebuild of the HTPC (ie swapping the mainboards also) - although i'm still doubting the improvement (imho the northbridge temp is just a glitch because the HTPC is stable as a rock). Additionally i will be transferring my FloppyDTV to the new server so my HTPC will be TV client only and my server handles all the streaming/recording on a dedicated disk. When the Phenom 8450e hits the market i will probably replace the 4850e again (it will be used for my gf's PC upgrade) - this change together with the future HDMI soundcard will be the final stage of the HTPC

SHoudnt you wait for this MBO
GA-MA78GPM-DS2H ??
It should be available really soon, at least here in france.

EDIT: why do you want a HDMI soundcard? is the MBO HDMI not enough for sound?

- apart from the SidePort Memory i don't see much difference between these motherboards and i was done waiting.. i needed my server this week
- the onboard HDMI doesn't support the new HD lossless audio formats (only supports LCPM 2.1) (read here for more information on this)

edit: i still need a blu-ray drive also

the only thing that might make a difference gfx wise would be the ht 3.0 capable cpu (Phenom) as it will enable advanced post-processing. But still i'm indeed very pleased with the perfomance

Hello.

I reinstaled OS from Vista64 to XPSP2, now video playback seems to work just fine for me, so i decide to continue

So next step for me is make remote control working.

I have nice IR remote "AVerMedia RM-HV" (come with Aver Media TV card) - it is no MCE compatible.

Is there a way to make it work with internal Antec IR reciver?

Or i need to buy new MCE compatible remote?

I have no experience with this, so any help is welcome.

Thanks!

My servers components have arrived btw and the new mainboard revision is... 1.0... d0h
Saves me from a complete rebuild as i now only have to switch the BE-2400 with the 4850e CPU
