Wow.... these really look good! (for some reason I had them yesterday in my PM's but today they where gone).
You make very good use of the separate compartments. That keeps it nice and tidy inside the cabinet.
How did you come up with the angle of the steering panel?
I see you have your airflow from bottom to top, I have that the other way around: I was afraid that my HTPC would function like a vacuum cleaner and suck in all the dust (not that we have that in our house...) LOL.
I would not go for the 10", main reason as discussed before is that it is not the same aspect ratio as the TV (16:9). That means that you have an alternative menu or you have limited functionality.
It looks very promising!

Ruud.

Okay, here is a video of the 7" in action.

I thought 15 degrees will be fine. If you draw a human body like myself (185cm) by the cabinet, it fits. I even considered a flat panel, but it's not so ergonomic, I guess.

First, it's a long way from the bottom to the fan, so the airflow will be minor. Second, dust is everywhere, even in the air, so I doesn't matter. Third, since the hot air goes up by itself, it's more logical, I think.

That's true. The problem is, I can't find any 10'' - 12'' 16:9 touchscreen accepting HD Ready signal 60Hz. I looked all over the world. I have mobile DVD player with 7'' screen and it's really tiny. So I'm waiting for your movie.

Thumbs up

Damn, its really cooooooooooool I'm shocked I'm doing my toy right now. I need it

I see angle of your panel is what? 45 degrees? And what is the height? 140 cm? It is better than my design, I have to change it. I tried to do it lower to be more stable.

So 7'' is enough, wow. This way 8'' will be perfect.

Ok, I will polish my design, change it a little and start to order components, then building the case.

Thanks a lot, you helped me tremendously, not to mention the inspiration
I will post something when the job is finished.

okay, thanks for your kind words.
dimensions in cm are (appr.):
front: 30 x 100
back: 30 x 130
side: 30
switchboard: 45 degrees, 30 x 42
me: 188

I tried to keep the design of my switchpanel as clean as possible, what I currently regret (it's a big word) is the DVD drive. Next time I would build it out of sight (on the back or something) as I hardly use it.
How about your cardreader, what does it look like? how well does it integrate in your 'slick' design of your panel?

looking forward to your next steps.
good luck!

reragds,
Ruud

You're welcome.
Now the price is in any way related to the screen size . I bought mine two years back for about 200 Euros. problem is to find one with a VGA connector.
I have put some links below of sites here in the Netherlands / Europe that I know have these. You can also look at Car PC sites.

MyElectronics - Mini-ITX, JetWay, Mobiele systemen en andere Mini-Systemen
Mountains CompuServe
Mp3Car Custom Car Computers!

Ruud.
