| MP Donator ![]() | I installed over RC2. I closed MediaPortal first, and manually stopped the TVServer. I did an 'Advanced' install - single seat - use for TV - use for HD - use existing mySQL for database I got the following error (pasted below), I think during update of Media Portal itself (the first of the three MP tasks shown). This left the installer in an odd state. The Install button was disabled. I could go Back but then the Next button was disabled, ie: the right button was always disabled. The only option was to close the Install, and restart. After this the install re-ran fine - it showed the first of the three MP tasks was done, and did the other two successfully. MP RC3 seemed to run up fine. All my server settings were retained, but I note that all the Client settings were lost (settings, skip steps, icons, etc). Don't know if this is related. Thanks. N. Country: | If you read the post on the homepage it recommends uninstalling TVServer before trying to upgrade to RC3, as there may be problems. Regards

| MP Donator ![]() | Yeah thanks. I took the notes to mean I might get an install error (which was correct!) but thought it was worth a crack, rather than uninstalling and loosing my setup (as for RC2 which I did install cleanly). I have now read the manual page and understand a bit more about retaining setting between installs. Are the config files compatible between RC2 and 3? Even then ones that the manual says risk breaking the install, eg: XML files in the base folder. Ie: given I'm up and running now, is it likely to stay that way, or should I uninstall/reinstall to be sure. Either way, no probs. Just reporting this in hope the feedback would be useful to getting install cleaned up for final release. Thanks. N. |
