based on this information i was now able to reproduce the issue.

it has been added to ::mantis::

as workaround, choose i.e. "c:/DeployTool" as location after you started the RC1 installer
then open this folder, go to the "deploy" folder and start the package-mediaportal.exe
this is the "normal" Mediaportal installer, which should allow you to install it to any location you want.
