My System

Default Dish/Bev EPG grabber released in SVN.

As you can see from the changelog, GEMX has added expermintenal DISH epg grabbing support. I have been working with Gemx for the past couple weeks testing new builds. We have gotten this to where it works pretty good but still has a couple of issues.

Current issues:

1. Grabber will skip shows in the middle of the guide. (usually about 1 or 2 shows per channel, totally random)
2. Grabber will use about 185MB of memory for the 2 day guide and around 650 for the 9 day guide. Currently this is NOT being released when it is done. This is currently being worked on and we already have some builds that somewhat fix this issue.

For those of you who only have 512 MB of memory, I suggest (for now) to only download the 2 day guide. Here are a list of tranponders that you would need to tune to get the 2 day or 9 day guide.

9 Day = 119 - 12472 - TP18 - CH239
2 Day = 119 - 12486 - TP19 - CH200
2 Day = 110 - 12516 - TP21 - CH119

By default, all channels will be selected to get the guide. This is not needed for Dish. You only need to tune to 1 channle for the 2 day OR the 9 day guide. Channel 200 will give you the 2 day guide. Channel 239 will give you the 9 day guide. Channel 119 on Sat 110 will also give you the 2 day guide.

Once you have your channel selected, go under manual control and hit EPG refresh. If your card is idle, it should start scanning that 1 channel and download the guide. Remember, the 9 day guide will use about 650 to 700 MB of ram... so be carefull with this one. Once you get the guide imported, you can restart the service and your memory will be back to normal.

I am hoping some of you guys can test this out and give us feedback on this one. We are hoping to get these issues fixed so we have a good working grabber for dish.

I do not know if this works for Bev at the moment, I have not tested it... I have a dish set up so when we get to that point, I will test it out.

I want to thank GEMX for all his hard work on this... He doesn't even live in the states and can't even test this himself...

BIG thanks to both of you for working on this!

I plan on having a look at the code this weekend.

I assume setting it up with the transponders etc. is fairly obvious in the MP setup.
This is great info:
Quote:
9 Day = 119 - 12472 - TP18 - CH239
2 Day = 119 - 12486 - TP19 - CH200
2 Day = 110 - 12516 - TP21 - CH119
Do we know this info for Bev?

Just checked out lyngsat for the epg transponders for BEV. This is what I have come up with

2 Day = 91 - 12268 - TP4
X Day = 82 - 12224 - TP1

Going to test it out now and see what I get.

Ahhh now I see where that info is on lyngsat.

How did you know that the Nimiq1 EPG channel was 2 day?

Wow gemx, my hat is off to you. I'm having trouble even folllowing the flow of EPG data in the MP code and you were able to modify it for NA without even living here!

ASiDiE experienced some missing shows after grabbing.
Has anyone else encountered that problem too?
What about memusage. Does it go up very high for the others too?

Wow, nobody has tried this yet? Once I get my dish reinstalled (don't ask) I will. But if anyone can test this out and post results it would be very helpful.
