I first want to start out by saying WOW!. I started out with SVN 17200. Had it loaded for just a couple of days. I wanted to make sure the new tswriter was getting all my channels during a scan. From the small tests that I did, its working great. Exactly the same as the SVN tswriter file. I then went ahead and checked the EPG grabber. I still have all these errors in the tswriter file, but it did grab and import my EPG for the 2 day guide. After looking through all 2 days worth of guide data...... I DID NOT FIND ONE SKIP OR GAP!!!!! This is amazing! I am finally glad to see this fixed. I have attached my LOGS from the EPG grab. There is nothing wrong with them and maybe the serivce ID mismatch is suppose to be in there.. becuase of how NA does things.

Things still to test.

1. Make some recording and see if I can play them back.
2. Test the 9 day guide with all channels.

Please let me know if you need anything else!!!!

EDIT

I just read your last post.... I will test my recording with MPTVClient + VLC... thanks

No player will probably play these channels.
It seems TSFileSource will play these chennels but not TsReader.
I rolled back MP/TVE/TVPlugin to 16539 when TsFileSource was in place and I could timeshift the above channels.
Until now I thought it was working because of the older version of TsWriter. But actually its a network problem that TsReader can't handle.

because the TsReader filter doesn't contain the section decoder changes
Will the section decoder changes eventually be made to the TsReader? Or am I just showing my ignorance now!?

If this really works the sectiondecoder code will surely be transferred to the other filters

Just tested out the 9 day guide.... Once again, it grabbed the guide using the Idle grabber and produced 0 GAPS! I will need to test this a little more, becuase for some reason, it didn't work the first time (Meaning it didn't even start to grab when it said it was grabbing). I always have my task manager open for the TV server. As soon as it starts to grab I should see a very steady increase in memory. The first time I tried this, it didn't pick up for some reason. The memory just stays level. I will try to produce some logs for you, but the big thing here is the GAPS are gone... and it works. Now that I have a guide I will start testing Recordings and then go back to testing the guide and the timeshift grabber.

Keep up the good work GEMX!!!!

Version 4 (didn't yet test the new version as there were some schedules ongoing). One recording did fail when PCR rollover happened. As a result the end of the recording plays at 10x speed

Report - Latest SVN 17210 (tvserver and client)

Using the tswriter that came with the SVN (I have 9 channels in total)
  • Channel start entering MyTV: 20 Seconds
  • Channel change: 10 - 15 Seconds
  • One channel - no sound
  • Would not change to one channel at all
  • Channel freeze after 30 -40 minutes (random, but consistent)

I copied in the new tswriter file, results as follows
  • Channel start entering MyTV: 6-8 seconds
  • Channel change: 4-5 seconds
  • All channels play with sound
  • Can change to all channels without freeze
  • left it playing all night - no freeze

The changes made to the tswriter file have made a HUGE difference to my MP experience
Focusing on this is exactly what MP needs right now!

I´ve testest version 5 with the latest svn and found out a strange behaviour. When I start MP I can start/stop tv and change channels without any issues.
But when I exit MP and start MP again I get always the no video/audio found error (restart of tv service necessary)

Well Gemx, this time I think you've got it!

The epg works on both providers in NA with no gaps. This is the best it has worked to date.

As for scanning here are the results I've gotten so far:

Transponer MT SVN V4 V5
12370 19 18 14 18
12399 26 26 26 24
12428 18 18 18 18
12457 28 27 25 26
12486 29 14 12 14

Now for the good news. I double checked against MT and all the channels v5 "missed" were garbage channels. They did not carry any video or audio, so scanning looks correct too. I'm doing a full rescan now and will post if any issues.

I reported that there may have been some micro-freezing with the new writer. I went back and this even shows up in older svns so it is not the new tswriter.

The only issue I can see is that the tswriter log has lots of serviceid mismatch errors. Not nearly as many as before though, but this size of the log does get quite huge.

During a timshifing epg grab from the manual page in tvsetup I noticed a crash AFTER it had gabbed the epg. I was sitting there waiting for the grab to finish and bang it crashed. I looked in the epg log and it had finished updating the db, so I"m guessing it crashed right after. Also there are some double entries in the db for some channels. These channels have 2 entries for every program, and this shows up as "tiny selectable programs" in the guide in MediaPortal. This is NOT an issue with the new writer though, it has been around a while. The reason I mention it, is I"m wondering how they got there. Is it possilbe two epg threads gets created? Mayby that is causing the crashing and or locking issues?

At any rate so far this looks great!

Edit:
Ok there is still one issue with scanning. This has also been around a while, but since you are looking at tswriter right now... It never seems to be able to scan the first transponder in the ini file. I have to create a "dummy" entry in the ini file for any sat that has channels on the first transponder in the file.

I added these log lines in the new version, they are quite normal.
It just checks every incoming pmt for the given pid until it gets one with the correct service id.
It absolutely normal that some pmts pass till the right one comes in, so this is no error or issue.
I will disable this log when puttin the filter into svn

Nope that shouldn't be but there is still a problem with the idle epg grabber sometimes locking the card.

Will have a look at this

V5 used logs posted .

Still seeing PCRPID set to 8191 (padding) on channels not broadcast at time of scan but sharing a stream . This is the only cause of 'no audio no video' when trying to timeshift with these UK channels when they are next in their broadcast time slot.

Editing the pcrPID to the correct number (associated with all channels sharing the stream) cures this problem.

Any further testing i can do please let me know.
