Some bug fixes added to download 14/7/07 at 10:33 (Sydney time)

Just added support for Wktivo downloads - you will need an account first, with your default channels set up.

Register at http://minnie.tuhs.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome

Then go to the Guide Data page and edit your preferences to select channels to download.

Dont forget to set the data type to "xmltv" or it wont work!

Nice work there Big_Kev..

I haven't tried it on my HTPC, but I'll be trying it shortly.

I was in the process of creating my own GUI, which would allow mapping of multiple MP channels to the same XML Grabbers for the WebEPG.xml.

I may well continue with this 'lil project of mine just for something to do though yours seems to do it all which is great.

Big Kev, thanks for the util, it's good... However can i request ICETV support?
Or is it possible to add the option for custom url, and avoid hardcoding the url.
This way it wouldn't matter if it were ICETV or any service.

Otherwise thanks for the great tool... :

Thanks for this! I'm gonna give it a shot, installing MP again after a few years. The only reason I stopped using MP was because EPG support was discontinued, but looks like I'll be back.

I gave this a go last night and managed to eventually get it working.
I have a couple of questions though I'm hoping people can answer that will clear a few things up for me.

1. I think in order to get the EPG data showing successfully initially I needed to clear the database in MediaPortal settings. Will I need to do this each time? I'm assuming not and that perhaps I may have had to do it initially because I was pulling data from the DVB stream.

2. Once I have set up all the channels in the Channel Setup and Groups tab, from then on I only need to click on the Download New Data Now button to get an updated EPG? Ie: I don't need to clear the databse or Reset Grid again?

3. Just wondering what people's preferences are between JRobbo or Wktivo (ozTiVo). I don't have pay TV. I have regisitered for ozTiVo, but ended up using JRobbo during the testing last night.

And a final question not related to the downloader itself. Is it possible to easily set up a recording for a channel between specific times if you don't have EPG info for the channel? Is there a screen or something where you can either enter in times or modify times of a programmed recording?

Thanks all.

Freak,

The version I downloaded yesterday allowed for the entry of a custom URL to get the EPG data from...

Thanks for the feedback.

Answers:
1. Program uses direct access to the MP database and clears the data before loading new data.

2. You only need to re-set the grid if your data source changes. Usually, just click on the download button.

3. There is not a lot of difference between ozTiVo and jRobbos data for free to air TV. Both have variable availability of between 4 and seven days of programs for different channels. The data from ICETV is more complete for Free to Air... but you have to subscribe.

The jRobbo data and ozTiVo data both are not straight XML and need some special processing. jRobbo is zipped, and must be unzipped afterdownloading (my program does this for you), and the ozTiVo data does not contain any "channel" tags, only "programme" tags. Hence the specific setup for these.

Not sure about your last query... I have only recorded from EPG or just by pressing "Record" on the remote. Maybe someone else will know.

Regards
Kev

Not sure as I am not using TVServer.

Does the TV server have a sub directory called "database" containing a file called "TVdatabaseV21.db3"?

If so, then it should work. DONT FORGET TO BACKUP BEFORE YOU TRY IT!

I am currently working on a version that will allow downloading from multiple sites. This will allow you to get info for different channels from different sources. For example, pay TV from ozTiVo and Free to Air from ICETV etc.

I will post it in a few days (I hope).
