Best EPG App?

I am New to MediaPortal.

I built a MCE Compatible machine a couple years ago, but didn't want to buy a new OS and reinstall. So I found Media Portal

Everything is working great, but I can't find a definate solution to getting a EPG.

I'd like to get a free one. I have tried XMLTV and haven't been able to get it to work.

Which is the best and most reliable one for the US?

I just checked it out, and Schedules Direct is a pay service. While I have no problem paying for it, I'd like to find a free alternative mainly because I'd hate to waste $20 then for them to quit offering their services.

My cable isn't installed yet, so as soon as it gets installed, I might give it a try!
